Opened in 2008, Janet McCleary Optometrists is a friendly, local, boutique optometrists practice based in the gorgeous Linen Green complex in Dungannon, County Tyrone, Northern Ireland, offering a wide range of optical services, designer frames and sunglasses, as well as an extensive range of children's eyewear.
With us, you're not just another number for a big corporation. We are committed to serving your specific eyecare needs and we prioritise your own unique eye health. What We Offer
Comprehensive Care For Your Eyes
An eye examination involves much more than just making sure you have the right prescription.
We offer a comprehensive range of optometry services including private and NHS eye examinations, FREE contact lens trials, VDU eye examinations, safety eyewear & prescription sports eyewear. We monitor the health of your eyes for possible problems such as Glaucoma, Cataracts and Macular Degeneration. Some general health conditions may also be detectable at an eye examination, such as Hypertension and Diabetes. Should anything suddenly happen to your vision, we offer emergency optician appointments covered by the NHS NI PEARS scheme.
We take the time to understand your history and requirements, so we can provide care that is thorough, precise and tailored to you.
And those in receipt of certain benefits are entitled to a free eye examination and contribution towards the cost of their glasses from the NHS. Just get in touch and we can soon tell you if you or your family qualify.
A Comforting, Personal Service
We know getting your eyes checked can be stressful, especially if your vision has started to bother you. So right from the first moment you engage with us, we will endeavour to make you feel comfortable and at ease throughout your time with us.
When you first contact us, we'll respond to you promptly and personally, so you know you're not just a "number" to us (you can find full contact details for the practice both here and on all the usual directories, as well as Instagram).
We'll find an available optometrist appointment to suit you as soon as we can.
On the day, you'll find ample parking right outside our practice here in the Linen Green complex in Dungannon.
As soon as you step inside our modern, stylish practice, you'll see the wide range of frames that we stock, and you'll be greeted and checked in by one of the team.
You'll then be led through to one of our comfortable, relaxing consulting rooms, fully stocked with the latest optometry equipment, where either Janet or Mairead will lead you through your consultation.
Throughout your appointment, you'll be greeted with clear explanations and we are happy to answer any questions you may have.
And as you'd expect, you'll find appropriate COVID safety measures in place, every step of the way.
Myopia Management
Myopia or Short Sightedness, is becoming increasingly common, in fact the incidence of myopia in children in the UK has more than doubled in the past few decades and it is estimated that half of the world’s population could be short sighted by 2050. The earlier a child becomes myopic the greater the chance of them developing higher levels of myopia which can increase their risk of developing eye diseases in later life. Intervention to slow down the progression of myopia will significantly reduce the chance of developing high myopia and help preserve their vision and eye health in later life. We are excited to be accredited to prescribe and fit two clinically proven methods of slowing down the progression of myopia in children. There's no point having the perfect lens if you don't like the frames that hold them. So we are meticulous in finding the right frames & sunglasses from the best brands - including Rayban, Mulberry, Ted Baker, Jimmy Choo, William Morris and Emporio Armani - so you're always looking and seeing your best.
We regularly add to and update our stock with the latest styles. That way, we ensure that our selection stays current , so you'll always look on trend, while still being varied enough to suit all tastes and budgets.
Contact Lenses
From daily disposables to weeklies and hard lenses, we are proud to offer the latest contact lens from leading brands including Alcon, Acuvue and Coopervision. Perfect for those days when glasses may be inconvenient. And as contact lens wearers ourselves, we know that the prospect of putting something into your eye can be scary - so we advise you & lead you through the process, every step of the way, until you're 100% comfortable.
